Just after our MS class, me and my classmates, seven of us went directly to USPF to cheer for our dear classmate and schoolmates who were participants in the said event. We have to ditch two subjects just to give our support to our participants.
The competition started at around 1:30PM. It started with the invocation followed by the singing of the Pambansang Awit led by the USPF Chorale. It then followed by the welcome address & introduction of Dr. Althea R. Arengio.
The Participating schools were:
- Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT)
- University of the Visayas (UV)
- Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU)
- University of San Carlos (USC)
- University of Cebu (UC)
- University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R)
- Velez College (VC)
- Cebu Eastern College (CEC)
- Southwestern University (SWU)
The first one to compete was the High School Level. And the schools which participated were CIT, UC, USJ-R, CEC, and SWU. The competition then started.
The mechanics of the competition was then read. There were three categories: Easy, Moderate, and Difiicult. Each category has 10 questions. The Easy part has only 1 point, the Moderate has 2 points, and the Difficult has 3 points. The perfect score would be 60.
The participants were then called to their respective places for the competition. They were provided with illustration boards and chalks to write their answers on. The questions were made in a powerpoint presentation. And to our surprise, there were some clerical errors. But then, it still ended well for the High School Level.
The Result:
School-Total Score-Rank
CIT-33-2nd
UC-40-1st
USJ-R-18-5th
CEC-30-3rd
SWU-27-4th
Awarding Ceremony of the High School Level:
For the College Level, there is the same mechanics of the competition that of the High School Level. The schools which participated in the College level were CIT, UV, CDU, USC, UC, USJ-R, VC, and SWU.
At first, the competition was going smoothly. Again, there were still some clerical errors. But who would have thought that a misunderstanding could occur between the coaches and the Dean? Whew. But it was then resolved after they argued for how many minutes about the mechanics.
After computing for the scores, the result was: CIT= 34, CDU=34, and UC=34. So the three of them have the same scores. There should be clinchers to determine which will be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The Dean herself read the questions.
But then again, UC won!
The Result:
School-Total Score-Rank
CIT-34-3rd
UV- 25- 7th
CDU-34-2nd
UC-34-1st
USJ-R-28-4th
VC-28-4th
SWU-27-5th
USC-26-6th
Awarding Ceremony of the College Level:
