As in all things in the Philippine Blog Awards started with an idea- To recognize the best in the Filipino Blogging Community. The idea became a project and the project became what was to be known as The Philippine Blog Awards. It was conceptualized by three bloggers- Abe Olandres, Jayvee Fernandez and Gail Villanueva. The aim was to recognize notable Filipino-owned blogs. With the help of the significant support of the volunteers, members of the Philippine Blogging Community and the sponsors, the awards came to be.
The 3rd Philippine Blog Awards was held last October 18, 2009 in Ayala City Sports, Cebu City at 6:00 PM. Aside from new categories the theme for the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards: One Blogging Nation.

It doesn’t matter if I did not receive any award that night or whatsoever, the important thing is I gave my full support to my co-bloggers especially to my co-members in Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS). I am so proud for being a member of the group and so thankful that our mother site-www.cebubloggers.com got the award for the Visayas’ Bloggers’ Choice Award. It was also nice to meet other members of the Blogging Community during the event. I can say that the event was successful. Thanks to the organizers.

It has been three years since the first Philippine Blog Awards. Looking back one can confidently say that the Philippine Blog Awards came about of the support and participation of the Filipino Blogging Community.
