Models from this event were airsoft players. Mr. Kenneth Villaflor, model and organizer of the event shared,”We’ve been playing airsoft all the time yet there are some who just wish to watch rather than play while on their gears“. These players is what they call as the impressionists or the re enactors. “So I thought, why not putting it into good use and organize an event such as this“, Villaflor adds.

Before the main event started, a sumptuous dinner buffet was served first. Not to mention the event venue was particularly in the rooftop of the building. You can see the amazing night view of the city. The city lights were pretty much enchanting and the air was so cool, just perfect for the event. When all was finally set, the fashion show then started. Photographers particularly the media also ready with their gears. I was really amazed of the way they look. They were pretty like real soldiers gone to war. Here are some of the photos I took during the event.

Who says war is only for men and adults? Well guess again. Women and children are NOT exempted.

Of course, they didn’t leave the audience hanging. They gave mugs as souvenirs and a free photo booth for everyone to enjoy. You can check out the photos here. Congratulations for the successful event!

General Rules and Guidelines:

1. Sun.Star Photo Contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers in the Philippines except direct employees of the company and their relatives to the 3rd degree of consanguinity.

2. To join, applicants are required to fill out entry forms which they can get from any Sun.Star Cebu branch (P. del Rosario St., Fuente or Mandaue Branch)

3. Submitted photos for “Cebuscapes” and “Changing Cebu” must have a location, date, name of photographer, brief description and must be identifiably taken in any place of Cebu.

4. All photos submitted as entries must be taken within the contest dates, May-Sept. 2010.

5. Pictures must be colored or black & white.

6. Photos must be shot in raw format. Entry pictures must be in 8×10 prints, free of any watermarks or any markings and submitted with corresponding JPG and RAW/NEF files inside a CD or DVD.

7. Digital manipulation acceptable is adjustments to color, contrast, brightness and sharpness; removal of dust and scratches; cropping; and black and white conversions. Not acceptable are photo composites (combination of two or more photos); the addition, duplication, deletion or moving of objects in the photos; Infrared photos are not allowed.

8. Only two (2) photos per category per month may be submitted free of charge per photographer. A charge of P100/photo will be imposed for additional entries up to a maximum of ten additional entries per category per month.

9. Photos submitted must have been unpublished and should not have been posted in any website or social networking sites.

10. Judging of monthly entries will be based on entry number and not by photographer’s name.

11. Two entries per category will be chosen as winners every month and these will qualify for the grand finals on October 2010.

12. Entries per month must be submitted on or before the following dates: May 31, June 30, July 30, August 31 and September 30, 2010. Winning entries every month will be announced in the newspaper. Non-winning entries for the month will not qualify for the next month’s judging.

13. The criteria for judging are on image quality (sharpness, exposure, and lighting), composition and relevance to the theme.

14. A special prize will be given to an entry that may be chosen as the cover of the Cebu Yearbook 2011 issue.

15. All winning entries will be published in the Cebu Yearbook 2011 issue.

16. The decision of the Board of Judges shall be final.

17. All entries judged as finalists and winners shall become the property of Sun.Star and cannot be reproduced or reprinted by any other publication without the permission of Sun.Star Cebu. Photographers will be given photo credits every time the picture will be published.

This girl right here happens to be a true-blue Cebuana. Can you guess how old she is? She’s only 19. According to my sources, she is an interior design student, a freelance photographer, a singer, and a roamer. That is according to her. She also didn’t mention that she’s a model. As you can see from the photo right here, you can really say that she’s a model cause it shows with that pretty face, gorgeous eyes, long nose, lucious lips, and black hair. Wow. She’s beautiful and humble. But that’s not just what she’s all about. There’s more.

Who is she really? A goddess? An angel? A princess? A celebrity?

Try harder. You’ll figure it out sooner. Even I was amazed when I knew what and who she was.

RALEENE CABRERA

Raleene is only 19 years old yet she’s so perfect. These photos right here are all photographs by her. Imagine that. She took all of these beautiful shots of her. Wow. She is a professional photographer. According to Rizza (Raleene’s sister), she’s not a model. “She may have modeled for a few friends, though, but she is not a professional model.”

She graduated high school in Centre of International Education (CIE), an institution of higher education here in Cebu affiliated with Cambridge University. She’s an Interior Design student at La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. She’s a bright student and is a scholar at La Salle and in Philippine School of Interior Design . Isn’t that amazing? And she has a great taste in fashion.

Another thing about Raleene is she’s a singer. Not just an ordinary singer. Now, she and her sister (not quite sure) are being handled by Rico Blanco in Rivermaya and him as their manager. That’s just awesome. She has an amazing voice indeed. So I guess we won’t be surprised if we’ll just see her on our TV screens one day.

But another thing about her is, she has NBSB. Wanna know what that means? She has No Boyfriend Since Birth. Yep, that’s right. Imagine a girl as perfect as her has no boyfriend since birth? Wow, I wonder why. That’s the big question mark.

And in case you want to know, she is a vegetarian. Now, she is currently residing in Manila. Well, I guess I’ve said enough.

• Cebu Bloggers Society Heritage Tour

Our first stop was in Basilica del Sto. Niño. Our meet up time was 8am but apparently, people arrived at 9am already so we were behind our schedule. We then started rolling the camera. Our lines are about the Expression of Individual and Collective Will.

Janmck was the first to deliver his line which quoted “believing that all change must begin within ourselves” just outside in front of the Basilica. In the Basilica Candles, Ken Jesryl stated his line which quoted “we hereby commit to begin the change that we seek in the world by taking simple personal actions. These are, among others, to –”. Outside the Basilica, where the Magellan’s Cross is located, Agnes delivered her line which was “understanding that the environment is not about the birds and the bees;” and Rabsin, with the City Hall in background, stated “rather; it nothing less than about Life itself, and the Sources of Life and Land, Air and Waters;”. From there, we then walked to Colon St. for Sir Timoy to say his line which was “b. Separate and properly handle our wastes.” And from Colon, we then rode a jeepney to Capitol. Bryan then delivered his speech which was “toward this goal, we will exercise our sovereign authority as a people to be expressed in the form of electoral vote”. I then was next to deliver mine at the Lapu-lapu monument still in Capitol which was “we will impress this message upon our political leaders that we now have this individual and collective political will. We implore our leaders to take heed”. Atty. Ethelbert then was next who was the one who prepared our script and the director of our video documentation. At the Palace of Justice, he then stated his line “in the event they fail or refuse to do so, we will render them irrelevant. And where appropriate, we will use the force and the power of the Law”.

It was nearly 12noon and our stomachs were crumbling. We then headed to Larsian in Fuente to have lunch. It was Bryan’s birthday so we surprised him with a cake. We had a very sumptuous barbeque meal plus the cake. Thanks to Vanjohnn and Winston for the treat.

We then continue our tour so at Fuente Circle we headed. Vanjohnn stated his line which was “the accumulated effects of which is now manifesting in the ongoing and perplexing climate changes threaten the very existence and future of human life”. After Fuente, we then went to Enovlink to charge the battery of the video cam and so as to chill a bit. We then continue our journey. Some of us headed to IT Park to continue the shooting. Beejing took the shoot in IT Park in which he stated “realizing that the crisis of water depletion and contamination, air pollution and land degradation,”. I and the others accompanied Vanjohnn to their school which is in Velez College. It was my first time to enter in their school. Afterwhich, we then headed to Ayala where Kevin was able to say his line in the Terraces which was “e. Where possible, plant and nurture vegetables and other plants even in small pots. This will increase our self-reliance for food. More importantly, it will restore the human connection to the natural processes of life”.

That ends our heritage tour. Well actually, that is only the part one of our heritage tour. There’s still a part two for those who were not able to join us that day.

Wow. Imagine in one day, we were able to visit 7 hostorical places in Cebu?  That was really amazing. I really enjoyed doing the video documentation and touring around Cebu. Might as well join the part two of the heritage tour. Yay!

July 31, 2009 at 5:00PM in the North Wing Atrium, the launching of the SM City Cebu’s Free Wi Fi took place. The Cebu Bloggers Society were present together with other organization like the PSP Cebu. Some of our co-members joined the photo blogging contest where in they have to upload their photo blog on “What I Love About The North Wing”. Our very own Michael Sinjin Pineda won the 1st place and got himself an HP Mininote 2133 Linux, also Jose Farrugia won the 2nd place and got a Samsung Jet S8003. Lucky for them.

Another highlights of the event were the presence of Dj Nikki Taylor who was on the mix at 5pm followed by the live performance of the Hardwood band at 6pm. Another were the Surf-the-web Trivia Contest where in the first to answer trivia questions on-line would win a Sony PSP or a Nokia E51 cellphone and the Raffle draw which gave away two (2) Sony PSP Slim 3000.

The North Wing Atrium were crowded with people who brought their wi fi capable gadgets. You could see them browsing the internet, blogging, or even playing games on-line. I know most of them are very pleased and happy to know that finally, there is a free wi fi not just in a restaurant or in a coffehouse  but mallwide. The launching was definitely a success!
