Just tonight, my cousin gushed about her new blog post so I payed a visit to her blog. As I went through her latest post, I can see pictures of a gorgeous young lady by the name of Raleene Cabrera. I tried to ask some of my Cebuano friends if they knew this girl but they said they don’t. Well at first sight, I thought she’s just an ordinary model, but wait til’ you read the rest of my post.

This girl right here happens to be a true-blue Cebuana. Can you guess how old she is? She’s only 19. According to my sources, she is an interior design student, a freelance photographer, a singer, and a roamer. That is according to her. She also didn’t mention that she’s a model. As you can see from the photo right here, you can really say that she’s a model cause it shows with that pretty face, gorgeous eyes, long nose, lucious lips, and black hair. Wow. She’s beautiful and humble. But that’s not just what she’s all about. There’s more.

Who is she really? A goddess? An angel? A princess? A celebrity?

Try harder. You’ll figure it out sooner. Even I was amazed when I knew what and who she was.

RALEENE CABRERA

Raleene is only 19 years old yet she’s so perfect. These photos right here are all photographs by her. Imagine that. She took all of these beautiful shots of her. Wow. She is a professional photographer. According to Rizza (Raleene’s sister), she’s not a model. “She may have modeled for a few friends, though, but she is not a professional model.”

She graduated high school in Centre of International Education (CIE), an institution of higher education here in Cebu affiliated with Cambridge University. She’s an Interior Design student at La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. She’s a bright student and is a scholar at La Salle and in Philippine School of Interior Design . Isn’t that amazing? And she has a great taste in fashion.

Here’s more. You might want to check out this video:

Another thing about Raleene is she’s a singer. Not just an ordinary singer. Now, she and her sister (not quite sure) are being handled by Rico Blanco in Rivermaya and him as their manager. That’s just awesome. She has an amazing voice indeed. So I guess we won’t be surprised if we’ll just see her on our TV screens one day.

But another thing about her is, she has NBSB. Wanna know what that means? She has No Boyfriend Since Birth. Yep, that’s right. Imagine a girl as perfect as her has no boyfriend since birth? Wow, I wonder why. That’s the big question mark.

And in case you want to know, she is a vegetarian. Now, she is currently residing in Manila. Well, I guess I’ve said enough.

Want more of Raleene? Visit her blog at raleene.com. You can also see her other videos in Youtube here.

Many are so proud of you Raleene! Keep it up! You are a one true Cebuana!

I don’t know if you have heard of the news about DepEd seeking to introduce Spanish in high schools. But this afternoon, when we had our Spanish class, our professor told us about this.

Also, as an evidence, here’s last November 9, 2008 issue Sun Star have published:

HIGH school students across the country might be able to learn Spanish in their schools, if plans for the integration of the language in the curriculum push through, said an education official Saturday.

“We hope that it will start next school year,” said Department of Education (DepEd) 7 Director Recaredo Borgonia.
Interested high school students will be allowed to pick Spanish as an elective course in their secondary studies. However, only those that perform well in class will be allowed to take the elective.

Requirement

“We cannot make it a requirement for all the students to take up Spanish. If the student doesn’t perform well in English or Filipino, you can’t expect them to do well in Spanish. So it is better that it just an elective, for the students to decide,” said Borgonia.

However, plans for the integration of the Spanish language in the curriculum are still in the early stages, he said.

“We are still preparing for it. Nothing has been made clear. Right now, we still need a task force that will draw up plans to have Spanish taught as an elective (subject) in secondary schools across the country,” he said.

An earlier DepEd memorandum called for the integration of Spanish in the curriculum for the current school year. However nobody took charge of the program.

Borgonia said they were hoping to fully implement the endeavor this time around.

“It will be done on a pilot basis. Not all schools will immediately implement it. It will be one school per region at first,” he said.
In order to effectively teach Spanish, public school teachers will be taught by Spanish teachers.

“Through that, we will have teachers who have the competencies to speak and teach Spanish. By effectively teaching students Spanish, teachers will be able to help students get a sense of history,” Borgonia said.

“The students get a good sense of history. And also, by learning Spanish, it is a good tool for industry and business for the students in the future,” he added.

Our professor have told us that Spanish subject before has 24 units, but based in our curriculum in this generation, we only have 3 units.

And now, they’re trying to bring Spanish subject back, not just in universities but also in high schools. What for? They say Spanish is also a really useful language because when you go abroad most of the people also knows how to speak the language, most commonly in Europe.

The term missing rib came from a bible story wherein it was said that God created Adam’s Eve from his very own rib. The story goes like this…(super short cut)

God saw that Adam was lonely, during his sleep, God took one of Adam’s rib and created Eve. Every man has been searching for his missing rib, only when you find the woman of your life, you’ll no longer feel the lingering ache in your heart.

ergoes the term… story from my friend’s site:

A girl in love asked her boyfriend.

Girl: Tell me. Who do you love most in this world?

Boy: You, of course!

Girl: In your heart, what am I to you?

Boy: The boy thought for a moment and looked intently in her eyes and said, “You are my rib. It was said that God saw that Adam was lonely, during his sleep; God took one of Adam’s rib and created Eve. Every man has been searching for his missing rib, only when you find the woman of your life; you’ll no longer feel the lingering ache in your heart.”

After their wedding, the couple had a sweet and happy life for a while.

However, the youthful couple began to drift apart due to the busy schedule of life and the never-ending worries of daily problems, their life became mundane.

All the challenges posed by the harsh realities of life began to gnaw away their dreams and love for each other. The couple began to have more quarrels and each quarrel became more heated.

One day, after the quarrel, the girl ran out of the house. At the opposite side of the road, she shouted, “You don’t love me!”

The boy hated her childishness and out of impulse, retorted, “Maybe, it was a mistake for us to be together! You were never my missing rib!”

Suddenly, she turned quiet and stood there for a long while. He regretted what he said but words spoken are like thrown away water, you can never take it back. With tears, she went home to pack her things and was determined in breaking-up.

Before she left the house, “If I’m really not your missing rib, please let me go.” She continued, “It is less painful this way. Let us go on our separate ways and search for our own partners.”

Five years went by…

He never remarried but he had tried to find out about her life indirectly. She had left the country and back. She had married a foreigner and divorced. He felt anguished that she never waited for him.

In the dark and lonely night, he lit his cigarette and felt the lingering ache in his heart. He couldn’t bring himself to admit that he was missing her.

One day, they finally met. At the airport, a place where there were many reunions and good byes. He was going away on a business trip. She was standing there alone, with just the security door separating them. She smiled at him gently.

Boy: How are you?

Girl: I’m fine. How about you? Have you found your missing rib?

Boy: No.

Girl: I’ll be flying to New York in the next flight.

Boy: I’ll be back in 2 weeks time. Give me a call when you are back. You know my number. Nothing has changed.

With a smile, she turned around and waved good bye.

Good bye…

One week later, he heard of her death. She had perished in New York, in the event that shocked the world.

Midnight, once again, he lit his cigarette. And like before, he felt the lingering ache in his heart. He finally knew. She was the missing rib that he had carelessly broken.

Sometimes, people say things out of moments of fury. Most often than not, the outcome could be disastrous and detrimental. We vent our frustrations 99% at our loved ones. And even though we know that we ought to “think twice and act wisely”, it’s often easier said than done.

Things happen each day, many of which are beyond our control. Let us treasure every moment and everyone in our lives.

Tomorrow may never come. Give and accept what you have today…
